HOW DO I GET A NATIONAL INSURANCE NUMBER?
DO I NEED ONE TO WORK?
Get your National Insurance Number (NIN) sorted as soon as you arrive, you can only do this in the UK, not before. After many years of slow procedures and even face to face interviews, the system is now new and improved and ONLINE!
It can be done in 10 mins from your phone with your documents to verify by video.
Current estimated total time to receive the paper with NIN in the mail was 16 working days but like anything bureaucratic, it may take longer!
No you don’t need one to start a job, but you will be taxed at a higher rate. It’s best to get it sorted nice and quickly and avoid all that claiming tax back later on!

DOES KIWIS IN LONDON HAVE JOBS ADVERTISED ON ITS PAGE?
Yes.. we have jobs posted constantly on our main Kiwis in London page in two areas, easy to access!
1 – On the main wall. Every day opportunities are posted there from employers and recruiters. These posts are made by the page admins when we are emailed these opportunities. To help your job search, we recommend you scroll down the main wall at least 2-3 weeks and apply to any agency or job you see there. It does not matter if it is late, there are always jobs that may be available.
2- Go to the mentions tab and you will see all the posts to the page made by everybody that is not an admin. Plenty work there in so many different sectors! Again we recommend you scroll hard down this section for as long/far back as you can.
NOT TOO SURE MY CV IS UP TO UK STANDARD, ANY TIPS?
Sure! I used to write them for 10 years here in London. Here are some quick tips!
Remember, less is more. Don’t do more than 2 pages. Personalise each CV to match the job you’re applying more, don’t send 100 CVs a day, don’t go too far back employment wise, no photo needed and why not think about a cover letter?
